DEATHNOTEは言わずもがな、非常に名作です。
作画の小畑先生の絵柄も写実的で、世界観にガッチリ収まっていると思います。
絵自体もすごく綺麗で、見ていてうっとりしますし、話も会話が中心なので、一冊一冊読むのには時間がかかるかもしれませんが(笑)、展開のテンポは割と早めだと思うので、そこまで話を退屈に感じることもないので時間をかけて読み進めて良いとおもいます。
エンターテイメントと割り切って読むこともできれば、「正義や悪とはなにか」など、深く考えながら読み込むこともできるような、非常に奥の深い作品になっていると思います。
多少強引な展開もあるかもしれませんが、それらを上回る程の見事な展開や名シーンがあるので、ぜひ一度は読んでおきたいところです。
②これから読む人へ･･･”デスノート”という作品の全体像
「世の中、死んだほうがいい人間が多いのでは。」と、不良や、犯罪者を見て漠然と思っていた主人公”夜神月”は、”顔と名前”をキーにその者を葬れる”デスノート”を手にします。

主人公”夜神月”と死神”リューク”との間には、相依存するような信頼関係は全くありませんし、”夜神月”は、”デスノート”と”リューク”を、効率良くただ利用すること、逆に”リューク”は、それを承知で人間界が、デスノートで掻き回されることをただ「人間って、面白！！」と暇つぶしをしているだけというものです。
”夜神月”が、”悪人”を”デスノート”で裁き、”善人”だけの理想郷を築こうと望む”思想的枢軸”も曖昧で稚拙ですらあり、最後までそのことについて掘り下げられることはありません。（これは、説明不足ということではなく、少年誌連載ということから、危険を回避した意図的なものと言えるでしょう。）
この作品の一番の魅力は、、”夜神月”の”善意の犯罪”と、その所在をつきとめようとする鬼才探偵”Ｌ”達との、相手の裏の裏をかくような、緻密で周到な推理小説的な攻防プロットだと思います。”デスノート”の、様々な使用条件により、その攻防は複雑に絡み合い、見る者を釘付けにして離しません。
小畑健さんの絵も、非常に洗練されており”絵”だけ見ているだけでも唸ってしまう程のクオリティです。
登場人物に”感情移入”することは、難しい作品ですが、”絵””脚本”はとてもスリリングで、質の良い作品だと思います。
③言わずと知れたアニメや実写にもなった人気漫画

老人が安堵して涙を流し、日の光を浴びる、ラスト。それでいて、読者をうならせる。
勝利と敗北。二つのラストを、読者に選択させる。それこそ、真に作品の完成といえる、のではないでしょうか？その時訪れる、その寡黙さ。その沈黙。そして、しじま。その豊かさ、そのバラの酒こそ、我々読者に、真の「至福」を提供することでしょう。
堅気を泣かさねば生きていけない手合いが、多すぎる。その現実だからこそ、「平穏な教室」のラストを望むことは、間違ってはいないのでしょう。
